Literature I Will Use
Knowing Your Students
The books below I think would be great to use for many things. The one way that sticks out to me is using them to get to know your students ![]() " The Important Book"
By Margaret Wise Brown Integrating this picture book into the first few days of school would be very effective. Allowing the students to read about the important things in the book and then applying the style of the book to describing what's important about them. A great way to get to know your students well using the medium of literature. ![]() "You Be You"
By Linda Kranz You be You is a picture book about rocks being fish. All the fish look differently and swim differently. Showing the students that each and every person has something to give. Many activities that could be done from this book. Great way to integrate literacy into the getting to know your students process. |
Carly's books![]()
Easy read- This graphic novel is a great for a student that is struggling with the passion of reading. I believe that Oddly Normal would be great to young girls that do not like reading or that are struggling with reading. Following the ...
![]() Classroom Expectations
The books below would connect great with establishing classroom expectations. ![]() "No, David!"
By David Shannon No David is filled with no's. As the students are hearing all the no's that are in the book, it would be a great way to talk to them about having a yes classroom instead of a no classroom. Asking them what it would look like to have a classroom filled with the word YES! Classroom expectations would be talked about through a piece of literature and established through the students thoughts. ![]() "Beautiful Oops!"
By Barney Saltzberg I love this book! I can see this book providing children with courage and confidence when it comes to the classroom. Having a motto in the classroom of making beautiful oops would be empowering. The fear that children have of making mistakes takes away from the learning. This piece of literature breaks down that wall and creates a positive side to mistakes. I could see myself implementing this book into my classroom. When my students make mistakes, we would call it a beautiful oops! Creating a positive learning environment for the students. |
